Poem
Lying in a Hammock at William Duffy’s Farm in Pine Island, Minnesota - James Wright

Over my head, I see the bronze butterfly,
Asleep on the black trunk,
Blowing like a leaf in green shadow.
Down the ravine behind the empty house,
The cowbells follow one another
Into the distances of the afternoon.
To my right,
In a field of sunlight between two pines,
The droppings of last year’s horses
Blaze up into golden stones.
I lean back, as the evening darkens and comes on.
A chicken hawk floats over, looking for home.
I have wasted my life.

A really lovely piece about this poem from The Paris Review, nine years ago.

Margaritas that someone else makes

I really like margaritas but usually won't go through the trouble of making one. But it's summer, so the likelihood someone else will make and offer me a margarita has gone way up. My brother made them this weekend, and I also had one at a party. I'll be continuing to scout for margs.

Scent
Sample bag

My sister and brother-in-law said they wanted to get my recommendations on a new fragrance to buy, and instead I pulled out a gallon bag of samples. So we smelled all of them and it was a delight and I have a slight headache now. And a real desire to finally buy DS&Durga Coriander. Which I keep passingly referencing on this newsletter but just realized I haven't written about. I think I have just thought about it so much.

Now playing via Spotify "daylist"

another old but great one

Carts online

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I bought a few things at Madewell, which included a very cute red dress. I wore it several times and then washed it according to the directions and didn't put in the dryer. It became totally misshapen and smaller, and I was very disappointed because I would like to wear it more. So I left a negative review at Madewell, and they almost immediately sent a return label. I have a skirt in the same fabric, so I will be doing futher investigation.

I eagerly await the day that I can order this as a replacement. It's discontinued, and I can't find it second-hand anywhere.
